Media Molecule has announced that it will be terminating live support for its PS4 game creation engine, Dreams, after the 1st of September in 2023.

The announcement stated, “As we continue to evaluate and evolve our priorities for the studio and Dreams, we’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue live support for Dreams after 1st September, 2023.”

Although support for Dreams is ending, players will still be able to create their unique games and other creations like art and music videos. However, there won’t be any new updates or the hosting of community events like the Impy Awards and DreamsCom.

The shutting down of Dreams’ support finally answers a frequently asked question from the Dreams community about whether it would be possible to export dreams from the Sony-exclusive platform. It appears unlikely now that the game’s support is ending.

In spite of this, Media Molecule is continuing to work on a new project – one that is not Dreams 2 or anything involving Dreams IP. Though the studio did not disclose any details about the project, it is rumoured that the new game will be something entirely new and fresh.
