Unleash Your Gaming Potential: Master How to Play Horizon Forbidden West on PS5 with PS4 Disc!

David Wolinsky

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is only available on PS5, but that doesn’t mean PS5 owners who have the PS4 version of the base game are excluded. They can still dive into Aloy’s latest adventure and explore the ruins of Los Angeles in this enticing DLC for up to 15 hours. However, they may be worried about whether their PS4 copy will be compatible with the PS5 version. But no need to fret, as both digital and physical PS4 versions of Forbidden West can be used to play Burning Shores on PS5.

First, players need to insert their physical PS4 disc into their PS5 console. If the game had been deleted to make space, players need to reinstall the data disc before swapping back to the game disc. After that, select the game from the home screen and click on the three dots and select ‘view product.’ This will take players to the game’s PlayStation Store page, where they’ll see an option to upgrade to the PS5 version for free.

After downloading the upgrade, the game will play as if it were the PS5 version, ensuring compatibility with Burning Shores. Once Horizon Forbidden West is running as a PS5 game, players can purchase and download the Burning Shores DLC via the store as normal. However, Burning Shores will be available only after finishing the main story, including the final mission, ‘Singularity.’

Following the completion of the main story, the DLC will automatically activate, enabling players to embark on Aloy’s newest adventure through the Burning Shores. The DLC activation may encounter some difficulties, so it’s important to ensure that both the required in-game quests and the DLC download have occurred. But once activated, players can enjoy this exciting new world of Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores DLC.
